Highwood Road closed overnight on four days this week

Bus corridor under construction on Highwood Road, Patchway

Highwood Road, the main thoroughfare through Patchway between the A38 Gloucester Road and The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, will be closed to all traffic overnight on four days this week.

Birse Civils, the main contractor carrying out the conversion of Highwood Road to a bus-only single carriageway, says the closures are needed to allow resurfacing of the road between the entrance to the new Charlton Hayes housing development and the Coniston Road junction.

The closures will take place from 8pm to 6am the following morning Monday through Thursday this week (16th – 19th April) and will see all traffic banned between the Callicroft Road/Durban Road junction and the Standing Stone Roundabout near The Mall.

Access and egress from the Charlton Hayes development will, however, be maintained, albeit only from/to the Callicroft Road/Durban Road junction.

The company warns that it will not be possible to join Highwood Road from Coniston Road at its western end (near The Mall).

During the closures, there will be no access to Patchway from The Mall end of Highwood Road, so all traffic will need to approach from the A38 via Patchway Roundabout.

First Group says bus services 73, 75, 309 & 319 will divert via the A38 and Hayes Way (the new road by Royal Mail) whilst each closure is in place.

Buses will be unable to serve Patchway Estate from 8pm each night until Highwood Road reopens the following morning.
