Charlton Hayes Autumn Fun Day

Posted on Friday 17th October 2014 at 11:38 am by SH (Editor)

Charlton Hayes Autumn Fun Day on Saturday 18th October 2014.

Residents of Charlton Hayes are invited to a community BBQ and fun day on Saturday (18th October), organised by the community development worker and resident volunteers.

The fun day, which runs from 12pm to 2.30pm, will be a celebration of autumn and will also give residents the opportunity to learn about safety on a building site (construction industry mascot Ivor Goodsite will be in attendance to run quizzes and offer prizes).

The event will take place on The Temporary Green in the Long Leaze part of the development (off Wood Street). Thankfully, there is now access from the David Wilson, Barratt and Bellway parts of the development via Chessel Drive, so residents from those areas can walk to the green!

There will be loads of fun stuff for all the family, such as an assault course, bouncy castle, graffiti workshop, face painting and juggling circus fun, as well as feedback on the recent Charlton Hayes community consultation and information about the upcoming residents’ forum.

The event will also offer residents the chance to meet their local police officers and find out about setting up a neighbourhood watch.

There will also be information about healthy living and the new Dreamscheme project.

And don’t forget the free BBQ with great food – the event will be weather proof under a huge marquee, so it will be going ahead whatever the weather.

Winsome Barrett-Muir, community development worker, said:

“Charlton Hayes is growing rapidly and we’re almost up 700 occupied homes. This event has been organised in response to residents’ feedback in the recent consultation. It’s an opportunity for all residents to get together, and what better way than around a BBQ? On a more serious note, we want to prevent accidents happening on the development while more houses are being built and so we would like everyone to meet Ivor Goodsite!”
